Can Balayam Cure Hair Loss HairMD Pune

Our ancient Ayurveda and yoga techniques have hidden therapeutic properties that improve our overall health and may help hair growth. Balayam for hair loss is an alternative reflexology therapy. Balayam is derived from “Bal”, which means hair, and “Vyayam”, which means exercise. Therefore this technique falls under both Ayurveda and yoga. It is an exercise for hair or a nail rubbing exercise in which nails are rubbed against each other. It is an ancient hair regrowth treatment followed and passed to us by our ancestors.

This blog will discuss the two theories on which Balayam is popular and meant to be effective for hair regrowth.

What is the Balayam Yoga Technique?

The technique of Balayam for hair loss involves rubbing your nails against each other. Anyone can perform this asana as there is no cost involved, and it can be performed anywhere.

  • Sit & relax- sit in a meditation position, take three deep breaths and calm your mind.
  • Bring your hands close to your chest and turn all four fingers of each hand inward.
  • Rub the nails of fingers of each hand together for at least 5-10 minutes every day before each meal.

Balayam for Hair Loss

Can Balayam Regrow Hair? There is no definitive answer to support this. Most people believe in this ancient technique of hair loss, however, there is no scientific proof behind hair growth through Balayam practice.

The two hypotheses that revolve around Balayam practice are:

  • Adult Stem Cells
  • Theory of Reflexology

What is the Theory of Adult Stem Cells?

Adult stem cells are present at different sites in our body. The properties of these cells allow them to convert themselves to any kind of cell and can also multiply themselves. Our body requires these stem cells for any type of repair or healing.

For example, when our body suffers an injury, cut or tissue damage, the adult stem cells get activated and regenerate new cells to repair the damaged cells and start the healing process.

This principle defines the role of stem cells in hair growth. Our hair stem cells are present in the hair bulge area. These cells help in hair regrowth.

How can Balayam Regrow Hair?

As per the Stem Cell theory, when we rub our nails during Balayam, some chemical signals get transmitted to the adult stem cells present in the scalp and stimulate them to cause new hair growth.

What is the Theory of Reflexology?

Let’s find out how can balayam regrow hair.

Our body has various nerve-ending points, and these are also present in the nails and the area surrounding our nails. These nerve endings are connected with our hair follicles and help stimulate blood circulation in our scalp. The blood supply that increases through the Balayam practice adds a lot of nutrients to our hair follicles, increasing our hair’s strength.

Conclusion

Many people can be seen practising Balayam and may have even found it effective. Yet, it has no scientific validation to prove that they have benefited from the Balayam therapy standalone. Many have adopted this alternative practice and other medication and hair loss treatments.

Doctors also recommend patients with hair loss issues avoid Balayam if they have an active infection in their nails.

Dermatologists suggest that one can practice Balayam along with proven treatments to get an overall improvement in hair growth.

If you are still experiencing hair fall to a greater extent, then it is time to seek a dermatologist or a hair doctor to know if Balayam for hair loss is effective. A complete diagnosis can help address your situation, and you can receive the right customised treatment plan. Visit HairMD if you are seeking clinical hair specialists.
